In January 2024, we will engage in 12 days of Fasting and Prayer, beginning on January 10th and concluding on January 26th. This period involves fasting three days each week, and each Sunday starting on Sunday 14, 2024.
Our Theme is “We will Serve the Lord” derived from Joshua 24:15. “ And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord".
Joshua gathered all the tribes of Israel to Shechem, summoning all those in authority and presenting them before the Lord. He reminded them that their fathers served other gods on the other side of the flood. However, Abraham, their father, was called out from his kindred and separated to fulfill God’s mandate. It is crucial to recognize that separation is a necessary step for the
fulfillment of God’s purpose in the life of every believer.
In today’s technological-driven society, we hear of the abbreviation “AI”- Artificial Intelligence, a field in computer science and engineering, that enables machines to learn from experience and execute tasks that traditionally demand human involvement. This technology involves creating systems that duplicate human intelligence, allowing machines to engage in activities such as learning and decision-making. Yes saints, this is where we are in times! As a response to this, we proudly introduce our very own AI - “Apostolic Intelligence”. Humans or machines do not craft it; rather, it is authentic, biblical, and originates from the throne of God. Functioning as a spiritual force, it centers on hearts, facilitating transformative change through Apostolic means bestowed by an all-knowing, all-powerful, and ever-present God.
Christians should understand that they cannot escape the world of Artificial Intelligence such as Alexa, Google, Meta, Facebook, smartphones, TikTok, Instagram, and others but should be cautious in time spent using these devices as well as protecting personal data from potential misuse, manipulation, or extortion by Artificial Intelligence systems.
As Christ-centered believers, we must anchor our intelligence in complete trust in God, relinquishing dependence on human understanding, and surrendering every aspect of our lives to His divine guidance. Proverbs 3:5-6 captures this
truth: "Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths."
Apostolic Intelligence urges a transformation of our minds, freeing us from conformity to worldly patterns and aligning our thinking with God's perfect will. Romans 12:2 emphasizes this call: "And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God".
In a world where human wisdom often falls short, Apostolic Intelligence is a guiding light for followers of Jesus Christ, leading us to think and act in alignment with God's Word. Let's heed the call to align our minds with the timeless truths in Scripture, embracing the wisdom from the Author of Life. 2024 will come with its challenges but let us command our hearts and minds to serve the Lord!
I do pray and hope that we will all discipline ourselves and participate as extensively as possible in this endeavor. To derive maximum benefit from this effort, we are encouraging members to refrain from movies and other similar kinds of entertainment during the days of the Fast. The use of the Internet and cell phones should be restricted to work, study, and other essential activities.
Once again, we ask for total participation. We ask that every member (excluding members who cannot do without food for long periods due to a diagnosed medical condition) limit themself to one light meal per day in the evening (after 6 pm). Water may be had throughout the day. Do not overeat. You are being asked to pray at least three times per day every day; Morning, Noon, and Evening/Night. Please make a special effort to participate in all prayer sessions. The number for the UAC Prayer Line is (551) 258-6254.
If your doctor advises you against fasting, we encourage you to participate in praying each day for the stated prayer needs.
God bless you richly!
