On Wednesday July 12 through Friday July 14, 2023, we will be engaging in our three days of prayer and fasting.  Our goal is to be in fasting each day from 6:00AM - 6:00PM.  Our chosen theme is “Arm Yourself Likewise to Suffer”.  In 1 Peter 4:1 (KJV) we read, Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin.

Most people are familiar with Job a righteous man from the land of Uz, whose faith was tested through great suffering. Notice the Bible indicates that he was righteous.  He was doing what God required of him, but it did not prevent him from suffering. It is crucial to understand that as followers of Christ, we will also be tested and will encounter hardships. Sometimes, we may mistakenly believe that becoming Christians shields us from suffering.  However, I dare to say that it is precisely when we surrender our lives to Christ that our battles begin.  Nonetheless, this should not deter us from serving Him.

Romans 28:18 (KJV) provides us great consolation “For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us”.   Additionally, 2 Corinthians 4:17-18 (GNT)” And this small and temporary trouble we suffer will bring us a tremendous and eternal glory, much greater than the trouble. 18 For we fix our attention, not on things that are seen, but on things that are unseen. What can be seen lasts only for a time, but what cannot be seen lasts forever”.

Let us remain steadfast on this path. Scripture reminds us that it is those who endure to the end that will be saved.  As believers, we should be mindful of the times we live in.  St. Matthew 24 outlines the signs preceding the Lord’s return, indicating that His coming is near.  It’s evident that Jesus Christ is nigh at the door, so let’s wear the garments of this world loosely. We cannot afford to be preoccupied with the things of this world and lose sight of our eternal destination.

The Apostle Paul urges us in Jude 1:3 (KJV)  “Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints”. Therefore, let’s examine ourselves diligently to ensure that we are living lives prepared for the rapture.  After we have examined ourselves, our next mission is to share the Gospel and extend His Kingdom to others.
