Grace and peace be multiplied unto you, from our great God and Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.
On Wednesday, March 2nd through Friday, March 4th we will be coming together for 3 days of focused Fasting and prayer. All members are expected to participate in daily fasting from 6am - 6pm. Our theme this month is “The Kingdom of Heaven is at hand” (Matthew 4:17).
This was the message first preached by John the Baptist and later by Jesus when he began his ministry on Earth. The Bible says in Matthew 3:1-3 “In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judea, and saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. For this is he that was spoken of by the prophet Esaias, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, Make his paths straight.” John went around warning men to repent because the kingdom of Heaven was at hand and many were baptized. Once John the Baptist got locked up in prison the Word says Jesus began to preach Matthew 4:17 “From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”
This message “The Kingdom of Heaven is at hand” still hold true today, even though it was preached over 2000 years ago. We as born-again believers need to keep this short powerful message at the forefront of our minds, and we also need to preach it to every person we encounter.
Sometimes we can become complacent about our salvation due to the cares of life or the allure of the pleasures of this world. We become entangled and encumbered with the affairs of this life. We stop walking circumspectly and forget to watch and look up daily. We must live pure and holy if we want to enter in the Kingdom of Heaven. In 1 John 3:2-3 the Bible says “Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.”
“For for this cause was the gospel preached also to them that are dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit. But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer” - 1 Peter 4:6-7. If we rehearse these powerful words of admonition frequently, we as the elected of God won’t lose our way at this late hour of the church.
We need to also ensure we are earnestly contending for the Faith against false prophets & teachers and preparing ourselves to labor for lost souls as we know Jesus is soon come. We need to be willing to pull others out of the fire. We are commanded to go out to the highways & byways and compel men to come in that the house of God may be full. We are called to preach the gospel message to every creature. As strangers and pilgrims in the last day, let’s not keep this message to ourselves, but let’s share it with everyone that we can before it’s too late. Let’s boldly proclaim without fear to all men that they must repent because the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand.

We do pray that we will all discipline ourselves and participate as extensively as possible in this endeavor.
Members who are taking medications are encouraged to consult with their doctors before participating in fasting. If your doctor advises you against fasting, we encourage you to give full participation in praying each day for the prayer needs previously stated.
When the time comes to end your fast, depending on how long you have fasted for will depend how long you should take to break it. The longer you fast, the longer you should take in easing back into eating food. Start with fresh fruits and vegetables and stay clear of highly processed foods that will shock your body and cause discomfort.
God bless you!
