Re:    3 DAYS OF PRAYER AND FASTING
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Grace and peace be multiplied unto you, from our great God and Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.

From Wednesday, November 9th, 2022 through Friday, November 11th, 2022 we will be engaging in our three days of prayer and fasting.  Our goal is to be in fasting each day from 6:00 AM-6:00 PM.

Our theme for this month is “Standing in the Gap” and the pertinent scripture reference is Ezekiel 22:30. which reminds us that we as the people of God are called to “Stand in the Gap” for all men on this earth. The Bible says in Ezekiel 22:29-30 The people of the land have used oppression, exercised robbery, and have vexed the poor and needy: yea, they have oppressed the stranger wrongfully. And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none.” God was expressing to Ezekiel how polluted his people had become, including the priests and prophets, as well as the people of the land overall. God sought out a man on the earth to stand up for righteousness and to intercede on the behalf of the wicked and backslidden but could not find one person. So, his judgment and fierce anger were poured out on the land. However, we as the people of God have the power to prevent the judgment and destruction of many on this earth if we faithfully function as the intercessors we are called to be. God has given us the privilege and the power to intercede for others like Moses did in Exodus 32 and Abraham did in Genesis 18. Their prayers prevented the well-deserved destruction of rebellious and ungodly people. In Exodus 32 Israel fell into idolatry while Moses went up to Mt. Sinai to commune with God. God was ready to consume them in his wrath and destroy them all. But Moses interceded for them and turned the heart of God from slaying all His people. Likewise, Abraham interceded on the behalf of Sodom when he was informed that God would destroy it. The Bible says in Genesis 13:13 that the men of Sodom were exceedingly wicked and sinners. However, Abraham interceded for the people of Sodom knowing that his nephew Lot and his family were living there. The prayers and petitions of Abraham were so valuable to God that He was willing to negotiate with Abraham and change His plan of destroying a city which should have to warrant God’s fiercest judgment.  It is a possibility that Sodom would not have been destroyed had Abraham continued to intercede on its behalf.

In Isaiah 59:16 God again sought for an Intercessor. The Bible says, “And he saw that there was no man, and wondered that there was no intercessor: therefore his arm brought salvation unto him; and his righteousness, it sustained him.” The NLT translates verses 15-16 this way “Yes, truth is gone, and anyone who renounces evil is attacked. The Lord looked and was displeased to find there was no justice. He was amazed to see that no one intervened to help the oppressed. So, he himself stepped in to save them with his strong arm, and his justice sustained him.” We see here the Lord got so frustrated seeking for a willing vessel and with waiting on his people to do what he called them to do, that He went to deliver the captive and those that were bound to himself. The Lord should not have to do the work, of reaching out and interceding for souls for us. Yet there are many instances where God touches people’s hearts Himself, to come to his house because we refuse to intercede for others, and reach out and touch lives ourselves as we were called to do.  We are so busy and encumbered with the cares of life, that the work of the kingdom and the passion of God’s heart, which is souls, has been placed on the back burner.

Does God have to seek after you, hunt you down and strive with you to take the time to intercede for the lost souls of this land? Many souls who are on their way to hell, can have the trajectory of their lives completely changed if we would only pray, intercede and supplicate before God on their behalf.

Some of us may have convinced ourselves that each individual is responsible to pray for themselves, but we are admonished by the Apostle Paul that we should pray for all men. 1 Timothy 2:1-4 “I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior; Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.” It is our responsibility while here on earth that we share the gospel with every creature and pray for ALL men. The purpose of the Lord shedding His blood at Calvary was to ensure that all men are given the opportunity to be saved. Let’s come together as the people of God, pray for a burden for the men of this land, and intercede for the lost and backslidden as we were called to do before our Lord returns.
